Why Church?

As you may or may not know, September 15 was “Back to Church Sunday.”

For most people here in New Hampshire, this event is less than a blip on their radar, barely worthy of notice. Most people don’t see a reason for going to church on Sunday morning. It doesn’t fit into their lives. After all, most of us feel we can be good people without attending a church (and we’re probably right). Besides that, church is a boring and rigid place. Not fun at all. So why go?

Well, it seems the recent refurbishment of our church website is as good an opportunity as any to invite people to reconsider their ideas of church: what it is and why it matters.

So, without further ado, here are four reasons why you might want to come to church this Sunday…and invite a friend or family member to come along, too.

We Can Do More Together Than Alone.

It’s overwhelming to encounter all the needs in our community and our world. Here at United Church of Warner, we have many active ministries to help those in need. And if you have a vision and a desire to make a difference, but aren’t sure how, we can help you to make that vision a reality.

It’s a Place To Deepen and Strengthen Our Faith.

To say that life is challenging is an understatement. Relationship troubles, money problems, illness and loss can cause you to question your faith. A faith community gives you a place to grapple with those questions together, to come out of these difficulties with a faith that is stronger than it was before.

“This Ain’t Your Grandma’s Church.”

Just kidding. The truth is, this probably is your Grandma’s church. But looking at how the world is now, it seems Grandma may have been right about a few things. Having said that, it’s also time for the church to evolve to meet the needs of our world today. Which brings me to my last point…

We Need You!

The church is the “body of Christ.” We cannot meet our purpose without involvement from each person God has called. We need male and female, young and old, and people from all walks of life to embody the church as God designed it for our time. We can’t do it without you.

Is church an outdated concept? Many would say yes. However, I believe that the church is needed today more than it ever has been.

Come join us on Sunday morning at 10 AM, and get ready to help heal a broken world, with God’s help.

See you there!

Pastor Amy
